How I Met the Love of My Life

Hi everyone!! It has been fooooorever since I have posted on here, and since today is our wedding anniversary, I figured this would be the perfect time to share these AMAZING pictures from Brooke Michelle Photography we took quite a few months ago (as you can tell by our coats. hehe). She is so talented that it was very hard to just pick a few because all of them were sooo good! Nikki and I have been married 9 YEARS as of today (eeeeek! we are getting old!). It is crazy to think that I met the love of my life when I was 13. We did not start dating until I was 16, but the story is too good not to share. :)

Nikki and I met in church when we both lived in Louisiana. Nikki's dad was the pastor and my parents decided to go to their church when I was 12 or 13 (I am the worst with timelines so bear with me please). From the moment I saw Nikki playing bass for the band at church, I had the biggest crush EVER. She was 16 at the time, so I knew nothing would ever happen but I couldn't help my infatuation. She was the coolest person I had ever met. When I was a freshman in high school, Nikki was a senior at a different high school. I heard from the church grapevine that she might move out of state for college, so when the Sadie Hawkins dance rolled around at my school, I decided to go for it ask her because why not? I did one of the bravest things to date and asked her to the dance. She said yes like the kind soul she is. I still have the pictures from this dance somewhere in our house. :) I was so nervous that I wasn't able to eat when we went out to dinner, and I don't even remember talking much because I was pretty shy back then. We wore matching shirts and had a lot of fun, but our age difference seemed still too far at the time, which I knew would probably happen, but at least I wouldn't live my life regretting not trying.

Lucky for me, Nikki did not move away for college. A year after the Sadie's dance Nikki and I started to hang out together more with mutual friends and I started to sense that she liked me back. So I invited her again to the Sadie's dance...original, I know. We decided to make matching shirts (which we still have to this day. haha). I was soooo excited. A few days before the dance I got in a pretty bad horseback riding accident and was in the ICU for a few days with a punctured lung and lacerated spleen, so I ended up missing the dance. But like the amazing person she is, Nikki visited me everyday in the hospital and brought me a care package and milkshakes. After that the rest is history! We started dating and got married 3 years later right after I graduated high school. I have so many more embarrassing stories about my crush on Nikki because I was kind of her low key stalker. I even wrote in my diary that I was going to marry her when I was 13 or 14. haha. Hope you all enjoyed our story. Have an amazing rest of your week! xoxo
