I started this blog for many reasons, but a major one was that I wanted a way to keep track of my life in a journal of sorts. I originally started a private blog three years ago, and I figured why not make it public, so I started Caturday Style. This blog started out mainly as a fashion blog, but has turned into a fashion and lifestyle blog. I made a goal this year to be more intentional and vulnerable with my posts and I am loving it so far.
Honestly, I did not know what would happen when I started this blog. I just wanted a creative outlet, and something different to do. And well here I am, typing away a couple of years later. One of my favorite things about blogging is how it forces me to slow down and reflect on my life. When my birthday was coming up this month I thought about doing a post reflecting on what I had learned over the past year. I decided not to do that (because I might save that for another holiday/birthday), but it got me thinking about all that has happened over the past year. The good, the bad, and the ugly. It caused me to stop and pause and realize how grateful I am to have met so many lovely people this year. I think it is important to reflect and learn from the past, and it is something I forget to do with the busyness of life. I am thankful that this blog is forcing me to slow down because I need that from time to time. I have this tendency to avoid conflict and stay busy and just keeping moving forward without much contemplation on how I am feeling and or really doing at the moment.
Blogging has also become this form of self care. I started the private blog awhile ago as a place to vent, and this public blog has turned into something different than that, but also somewhat similar. My therapist always encourages me to check in with myself and emotions regularly, but most of the time I focus on other people and things because it is easier (but rarely better). This blog makes me check in with myself. Sometimes I write posts that I don't even publish just to think out something or vent.
Another thing I am super thankful to the blog for is all of the amazing people I have met along the way either through photo shoots (like this one) or blogger/creative events. There are so many wonderful people in Baltimore, and because of this blog I have gotten out of my comfort zone and met so many of them and am lucky enough to call some of them friends.
Bodysuit: Dreaming Tree Vintage || Jeans: Free People || Choker: Eclectic Kite on Etsy || Shoes: Urban Outfitters
This shoot with Danny over at Seven Hares Productions was super fun! I love when I can wear my flare jeans and do something retro. This choker is my all-time favorite! My friend Alex (blog: AJ The Creative Tinkerer) made it. She makes the coolest chokers ever. I love how unique all of her pieces are. So you should definitely check out her Etsy!
Hope you all are having a great week! xoxo!
